Dutahair is a drug intended for the treatment of prostatic hyperplasia (benign). The active substance Dutasteride is able to inhibit the 5α-reductase isoenzymes of all types. Due to this property, the drug stops the conversion of testosterone into androgen DHT, which affects the development of hyperplastic changes in the tissues of the prostate gland (PJ). When treated with Dutahair, the plasma concentration of DHT is reduced by 85-90%.
Thanks to the treatment of Dutasteride, the size of the gland in patients decreases, urination improves, the likelihood of acute urinary retention decreases and the risk of the need for surgery is reduced.
For adult men, including elderly patients, the recommended oral dose is 0.5 mg per day. Capsules should be swallowed whole, not chewed and not opened, because the contents may cause irritation of the oropharyngeal mucosa. Dutasteride can be taken with or without food.
Side effects may occur when taking Dutahair. In particular, an allergic skin reaction may occur, for example, urticaria, rash and itching. The most common side effect is erectile dysfunction, and libido may be reduced.
