Azab 250 is a macrolide antibiotic with a bacteriostatic effect (it inhibits the growth of pathogens). The drug is active against a wide range of microbes. The mechanism of action of Azithromycin is associated with the suppression of protein production in microbial cells. In high concentrations, it is able to have a bactericidal (killing microbes) effect.
Azab 250 is indicated for use in infectious processes caused by microbes that are sensitive to this antibiotic: infections of upper respiratory tract, upper respiratory tract infections, lower respiratory tract infections, soft tissue infections, skin infections, erythema migrans, urinary tract infections, caused by chlamydial infection.
Azithromycin should not be taken in case of hypersensitivity (allergy) to macrolide antibiotics, severe impairment of the kidneys, liver (their insufficiency), age up to 12 years (or weight less than 45 kg), simultaneous use with ergotamine, dihydroergotamine.
Azab 250 tablet should be swallowed whole, washed down with water. The required dose of Azithromycin is taken once a day for one hour or two hours after meals.
Overdose symptoms: urge to vomit, temporary hearing loss, frequent and loose stools.
Treatment of overdose: emergency gastric lavage, including the use of sorbents, symptomatic treatment.
