Ekovir 800 is an antiviral agent from the group of synthetic analogs of the acyclic purine nucleoside, dep guanidine, which is a component of DNA. Pharmacological action – antiviral.
Indications for use Ekovir 800:
- Treatment of primary and recurrent infections of the skin and mucous membranes caused by the Herpes simplex virus;
- Suppression of the recurrence of infections caused by the Herpes simplex virus in patients with normal and weakened immune systems;
- Primary and recurrent infections caused by the Varicella zoster virus.
Adult patients for the treatment of primary infections and recurrences of Herpes simplex of the skin and mucous membranes are prescribed 200 mg 5 times a day. The duration of treatment is usually 5 days. In severe cases, longer treatment may be required.
The effectiveness of treatment will be the higher, the earlier it is started. In patients with immunodeficiency with repeated cycles of treatment, resistance of viruses to Acyclovir is sometimes formed.
Possible side effects from Ekovir 800 include:
- Dermatological reactions: skin rash that disappears after drug withdrawal;
- Gastrointestinal disorders: nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain;
- Neurological disorders: dizziness, decreased concentration, hallucinations and drowsiness.
